As a kid I woke up at 6am every Saturday without an alarm, purely for cartoons, which is more discipline than I have shown since. These classic memes are the closest thing I have left to that bowl of sugary cereal on the carpet. If you’re new, this is a daily dig through the old stuff every afternoon, picking up where yesterday’s trip through the classics left off. Pour the cereal.

Somebody turned a playground train into the saddest engine on Earth, and I have not recovered. Same goes for the dumpster that is empty when full, which is also how I would describe my weekends in my twenties. These old memes hold up because nobody was trying very hard back then, and honestly that is my favorite thing about the best memes from that era. I am also the guy on the couch the second I walk in the door, shoes still on.

Another stack of vintage memes and viral tweets shows up tomorrow afternoon, right on schedule, which is more than I can say for the cartoon channel after they swapped everything for infomercials. If you need something sooner, Friday’s meme dump is still fresh, and the Furby edition from Monday will keep you up at night all over again. And if any of these took you back to the cartoon carpet, share the post with whoever sat next to you on it. They’ll want the nostalgia too, even if they won’t admit it.
