I once spent ten full seconds waving at a mannequin, so I am not the person you want deciding what is real. That is exactly why I love perfectly timed photos. They take a regular afternoon, line up a dog, a log and a camera at the exact wrong angle, and suddenly your brain files a complaint. Squint all you want. Half of these still do not make sense to me.

Hello, I would like to speak to the manager.

My favorites are the animal ones, because pets are forced perspective photos waiting to happen. A cat becomes a dinosaur, two puppies become one very confused dog, and a fluffy black ball turns out to have exactly one eye. I showed my husband the extra long dog and he said that is just a log. I said that is the whole joke, and we have not spoken since breakfast.
Then there are the people shots, where an optical illusion turns two hikers into one tourist with two heads or makes one guy look like a giant next to a tiny diver. My personal hall of fame is the horse head that lines up perfectly with a stranger’s face. These funny pictures only work because someone stood in the right spot for one second, and honestly, that is my whole career strategy too.
What I love is that nobody planned most of these. A cow just stood behind a pillar. Somebody had big hair at the right moment. Life throws these little gifts at us all day, and most of us miss them, except the one person who looked up at the right time, took the shot, and is now famous to a cow.
The angle is wrong. The timing is right. The cow is a legend.
