My ADHD brain does not read books, but it will read a stranger’s opinion about cereal at 2 a.m. and call it personal growth. That’s why I have a soft spot for dumb funny tweets. They’re written with zero planning and maximum commitment, which is also how I’ve made every major life decision, including my bangs and two leases. Here are the ones that broke me this week.

Somewhere a romance editor just quit.

The bear bottle is psychological warfare, and the bees know it.

Hydrated enough to be legally classified as fruit.

Dramatic, accurate, and also my plan for every outage.

Bologna is never recovering from this.

Technically it's a pine and it's on a pizza.

Groundbreaking stuff. Somebody alert the publishers.

My favorite tweets are the ones written with the confidence of a TED talk and the research of a fortune cookie. Somebody announced the Beatles were connected by their band like they’d cracked a cold case, and I respect it. Half of these read like funny shower thoughts that escaped before anyone could stop them. I’ve had that exact thought about coconuts and said nothing, like a coward.
I trust people who post their worst moments more than people who post their best ones. Funny twitter posts work like a confession booth with no priest, whether it’s a tooth fairy accounting error or a seafood boil at a job interview. These aren’t twitter memes so much as incident reports, and I’ve filed several myself. Mine just had fewer likes and one very confused urgent care nurse.
I think we love dumb tweets because they’re proof that everyone’s brain is a junk drawer, not just mine. Somebody out there is also lying awake thinking about bologna, and that’s weirdly comforting. Being stupid in public is a kind of generosity. It tells the rest of us we can stop pretending to have it together.
The Wi-Fi is back. The skeleton is resting. The bologna has a new name.
Go read A Friendly Warning That Awkward Tweets Will Remind You of Something You Said in 2014 next, then cool off with Shower Thoughts Are What Your Brain Does the Second You Take Away Its Phone. Your screen time report will be furious, and that’s between you and it.
