Garfield has hated Mondays since before most of us could read, and the older I get, the more that lasagna cat sounds like a prophet. Every afternoon around here, I pull a stack of classic memes out of storage, the old favorites that aged better than my lower back. Yesterday’s classics were built for the couch, and these are built for the commute home. Monday, meet the vault.

King Theoden slumped over a laptop on his throne, labeled me on Monday morning.

I have been the crying kid at the dinner table every Monday since grade school, and I am not proud of it. The chained-up trash cans remain one of the best memes ever posted, because it is the most romantic thing a city has ever done by accident. Old memes like these are the Monday cure that never expires: you know every single punchline by heart, and they still beat opening your work email by a mile. For the record, I would have decorated the blue hedgehog cookie too, and I would have done it fast.

Another round of vintage memes and viral tweets lands tomorrow afternoon, one whole day closer to Friday, which is the only math I do willingly. If you need more before then, yesterday’s meme dump has a full lunch break of fresh stuff waiting for you, and Thursday’s classic memes are still aging like wine, or like me. If one of these got you through the afternoon, send it to the friend who survived this Monday right alongside you and let them have the very last laugh for once.
