The first cold week of fall always ends with me pulling last year’s hoodie out of a bin and finding a gas station receipt from a man I no longer recognize. That is the whole deal with classic memes: old stuff you forgot you loved, still weirdly warm. Every afternoon I dig through the archive so you don’t have to, and yesterday’s trip through the classics is right there if you missed it. Pockets out, here is what I found.

Three bats hanging from a branch like a boy band, captioned Batstreet Boys.

Honestly their best lineup.

One of the classic memes: a pie chart of small talk, mostly plotting your escape.
Cheetah cub gazing up at its mom, labeled 21 year old me getting steak.

Twenty-one going on four.

Tweet joking that she's a 10 but Excel thinks she's an October.
Classic memes favorite Frodo giving a slow side-eye when asked if he slept well.
Skeleton machine meme showing a grumpy cat turning happy once someone pets its head.

Most efficient factory in America.

Tweet about a kid planning a long weekend at the big library and a croissant.
Casino ad using one actor as both spouses, a true classic memes find.
Beyonce looking stunned after a cashier checks an ID quickly because they saw the 19.

Card me slower, please.

Tweet comparing a very tall man's request to be tied up to Gulliver's Travels.
Classic memes tweet where a flag's sun seems to give an officer a shoulder rub.
Person in a giant Dunkin donut costume standing by a road, with a crude caption.
Tweet about a two year old in a tiny lawn chair drinking A1 sauce.

That child has a steakhouse palate.

Tweet sarcastically complaining about SSRI side effects using crude and offensive language.
Ryan Gosling in a yellow jacket, one of those classic memes about realizing past dumbness.
Text exchange where a dad reveals he got a seven day Twitch suspension.
Computer dialog box asking are you sure you want to exist, labeled philosophers.

Read the terms first.

Classic memes screenshot of a keyboard suggesting strange moth phrases after someone types moth.
Tweet about calling a snoring girlfriend a demon but praising a snoring dog.
Tumblr post wanting a malware QR code shirt to brick phones that film you.

Finally, a graphic tee with a purpose.

Classic memes pick of a dark cloud looming in a pink kawaii bedroom doorway.
Text post about going on vacation just to lay down in a different setting.
Luke Skywalker carrying Yoda, captioned talking frog convinces son to kill his dad.

In fairness, the frog was very persuasive.

Wizard in blue robes stepping into a tree hollow, a classic memes take on socializing.
The Mamas and the Papas singing, used as a camping joke about forgetting toilet paper.

A fall classic in every sense.

Somehow the Batstreet Boys hold up better than half the boy band CDs I actually paid for with lawn mowing money. I also have the cheetah cub’s exact energy whenever my mom asks what I want for dinner, and I am nowhere near twenty-one. These old memes have been passed around so long they have frequent flyer miles, and the viral tweets hold up too, because that A1 sauce toddler is out there somewhere running a steakhouse. The casino couple played by one actor is still the best budget decision in advertising history.

The vault opens again tomorrow afternoon, same time, same dust, same guy who should really be doing something more productive. Until then, yesterday’s meme dump has a fresher pile from lunch, and Saturday’s classic memes go even deeper into the best memes of the archive, the ones that were vintage memes before we had a word for it. If one of these dragged up a memory, pass it to whoever was there with you when you first saw it. The share buttons are right below.
