At every sleepover I went to as a kid, somebody’s older brother put on a horror movie way too scary for us, and I didn’t sleep properly until Thanksgiving. Halloween week brings that feeling right back, so these classic memes lean a little toward the sleepless. If you’re new, this is our afternoon trip through the internet’s attic, and Sunday’s batch is one scroll back. Lights on for this one.

The schnauzer who got a haircut and immediately looks like he pays his taxes early is my goal for this week. I also relate deeply to the guy keeping 400 tabs open, since my browser is basically a storage unit I rent with my laptop’s memory. These old memes hold up because they were made by people who had nowhere to be, which is still the recipe behind the best memes. I respect that more than most of my own decisions, including the sleepover where I picked the movie and nobody spoke to me after.

Another batch of vintage memes and viral tweets shows up tomorrow afternoon, right around the time the Tuesday slump hits. Until then, Sunday’s meme dump is a good warm-up, and the Halloween costume edition from last week pairs nicely with a bag of candy you swore was for trick-or-treaters. If any of these made you laugh, share the post with the friend who picked the scary movie at every sleepover. It’s the least they owe you.
