I have a complicated relationship with peanut butter, in the sense that I keep calling it a protein and it keeps letting me. It never judges, it just sits in the pantry, patient, knowing I’ll be back at 11 p.m. with a spoon and no plan while a nutritionist somewhere feels a chill and doesn’t know why. These peanut butter memes are for everyone who has ever called a heaping spoonful a snack with a straight face. Grab your spoon, not the knife, because we both know what happens with the knife.

That's not a snack, that's a hostage situation.

Nobody has ever eaten one serving of peanut butter. I know because I tried, once, with an actual measuring spoon, and what came out looked like a free sample at a store that hates you. Two tablespoons is not a portion. It’s a rumor. Peanut butter lovers spread it like they’re grouting a bathroom, and the best peanut butter jokes here are just people finally admitting it out loud.
At some point in my adult life I became a raccoon, not legally, but spiritually. There is a specific hour of the night when the pantry door creaks open and a grown man reaches wrist deep into a jar for the last smear stuck at the bottom. The internet has wisely chosen a small masked bandit hugging a jar like a newborn as the mascot for this. That isn’t a joke about raccoons, it’s a documentary about me.
Honestly, I think peanut butter is cheaper than therapy, and the funny peanut butter philosophers in this batch make a strong clinical case. Breathe in, breathe out, eat it off the knife over the sink. Peanut butter has never asked me how my career is going or mentioned my cholesterol. It just waits on the shelf, a little separated on top, like it also had a long day.
What I love about these is that they’re all confessions. Nobody posts a peanut butter meme to brag. They post it because they got caught standing in the kitchen at midnight with a spoon in their mouth, and the only way out of that kind of shame is to turn it into a group activity. Once enough people admit it, it stops being a problem and starts being a culture.
Under all the jokes there’s something genuinely sweet. Peanut butter is a childhood food that never left: it was in your lunchbox, it carried you through your broke years, and it’s still there now that you’re a responsible adult who absolutely should know better. Most things from childhood either got discontinued or got weird, but peanut butter just got a bigger jar. That’s loyalty, and I plan to repay it the only way I know how, which is directly from the container.
The jar is open. The spoon is ready. The serving size is a suggestion.
If your pantry needs more company, our food memes are a whole buffet of people making questionable choices with total confidence. The raccoon memes will make you feel seen in a way you may not enjoy, and the diet memes are waiting for anyone who started strong on Monday. Snack people should also check out our gallery of midnight snacks that somehow got a marketing budget. Bring a spoon. Leave the guilt.
