Friday at this hour used to mean one thing: racing to the video store before every copy of the new release was gone. I always lost, and I always went home with whatever had the most beat-up box, which is honestly how I still pick classic memes. Yesterday’s trip through the classics was the preview; this daily dig through the internet’s back shelf is the feature. Be kind, rewind.

Every one of these old memes has been passed around more times than a VHS copy of a movie nobody returned, and they still work. I am not proud of how many I could recite before scrolling to them, especially the prairie dog at the computer, which I have sent my boss twice with no reply, and I take that as respect. I also owned Moon Shoes for one week and a cast for six. The best memes are like that worn-out rental with the cracked case: you know exactly how it ends, and you watch it anyway.
Another stack of vintage memes lands tomorrow afternoon, same time, with no late fees and no driving back in the rain. If you want something newer before then, Wednesday’s meme dump still smells like the first time the heat kicked on, and the classic memes from the day after Halloween have a VCR clock that still blinks 12:00. If one of these viral tweets made you snort, pass it along to the friend who still owes you a movie from 2004, rewound or not, in the wrong case.
