I Have Looked at a Lot of Cursed Images and Some of Them, Horribly, Look Delicious

I have a rule that I don’t look at my phone after ten at night, and cursed images are the reason that rule exists. They get in, they rent a room, and at three in the morning I will suddenly remember a stranger’s sandwich and sit straight up in bed like I heard a burglar. That is what these do, and I say it with total respect for every person who looked at an object, a meal, or a car and thought, you know what, let’s make it worse. Brace yourself.

I need everyone to stop doing things to food, and I mean that as a plea. Cursed food keeps getting posted with a heart emoji, as if pink pancakes made with stomach medicine were a gift and not a cry for help. Someone poured ketchup into the fry container and served the fries in tiny paper cups, like a dare. I once put ranch on a cold pizza at a sleepover and my friend’s mom never looked at me the same, so I know what judgment feels like, and these people have earned more of it.

Weird pictures of objects in the wrong place scare me more than any horror movie, because a horror movie at least explains itself. A toilet sitting alone in the middle of a road at night is not a prank. It is a portal. Nobody tells you where it leads, and nobody, and I cannot stress this enough, should check.

My favorite wtf pics are the ones where a person solved a problem nobody else would have attempted. Carrying an entire bed frame on a scooter takes vision. Plugging a charger directly over a sign that says do not use takes something closer to faith. I respect them the way I respect a raccoon that figured out the latch, which is to say deeply, and from a safe distance.

Here is what I think is happening. The human brain is a little security guard that wants everything in its proper aisle, and cursed images walk right past him holding a lit candle. You can’t look away because some ancient part of you is trying to file it, and there is no folder. So you send it to a friend, which is really just asking them to help you carry the weight.

And honestly, there’s something beautiful buried in here, under the mold. Every one of these photos was taken by a person who saw something deranged and thought, the world deserves to know, and that is generosity. It’s misguided, it’s slightly damp, and it smells like onions, but it’s generosity, and I will defend these people right up until they invite me over for dinner. I’ve forwarded at least four of these to my mother, who has stopped replying, which I consider a win.

The toilet is in the road. The pancakes are pink. The group chat has gone quiet.

If your eyes are still recovering, keep the damage going with our cursed images archive, a cursed food collection that will put you off breakfast, and a thread of weird food combinations that people defend with total confidence. There are also plenty of spooky meme dumps for when you want the creeps on purpose. Don’t eat anything while you scroll. Trust me on this one.
