Is there a happier place on earth this morning than Wisconsin? The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 last night to win the first World Series in franchise history, and the Brewers World Series reactions have been rolling in ever since. Some of them came from people who waited their entire lives. Some came from me, a guy with no ties to Milwaukee who still yelled at his TV.

Wait, What Actually Happened in Game 5?
The short version, for anyone who fell asleep: young ace Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings before a calf cramp took him out, William Contreras hit an RBI double and was named World Series MVP, and rookie Cooper Pratt added two more hits and two RBIs. Jackson Chourio finished the Series with 11 hits, a five-game record. The game was in St. Petersburg, and Brewers fans had so thoroughly taken over Tropicana Field that they were still chanting almost two hours after the last pitch, according to AP’s recap of the Brewers’ Game 5 win.
This franchise started as the Seattle Pilots in 1969, moved to Milwaukee a year later, and had one World Series trip before this, a 1982 loss to the Cardinals in seven games. So yes, people were emotional.

Did the Brewers Championship Break Every Wisconsin Account?
The governor posting in all caps was only the beginning. Every team account in the state showed up like cousins at a wedding, and I respect a Bucks social media person who made a whole graphic with a barrel on it.

The Packers going with “For Wisconsin” is the most Midwestern thing that could happen, a football team saying congratulations by thanking the whole state. Then the Milwaukee Fire Department apparently had a commemorative helmet shield ready, which is either great planning or the scariest level of optimism I have ever seen.

Who Had a Better Night Than Cooper Pratt?
Nobody, is the answer. The 22-year-old set a Series rookie record with six straight hits, and after the game he told reporters, “It only took four months!” He made his big league debut in June. Some players wait fifteen years for a ring, and this kid treated it like a summer job, so Reddit responded with the appropriate amount of loving outrage.

The players got the full fan treatment too. Catcher’s gear plus a beer is now the official uniform of the state, and somebody already turned one bearded, goggled Brewer into the guy you see right before you get flattened in a mosh pit.

Should Somebody Check on the Rays?
Losing a World Series at home is rough. Losing it while the visiting fans fill your infield section and chant for two hours is worse, and the jokes about who was actually in those seats wrote themselves. I will admit I laughed at the sad stingray harder than I laughed at anything this week, and I feel a little bad about it.

Wisconsin Is Not Sobering Up Until June
Milwaukee is already searching for parade details, and the AP recap borrowed a line from Bob Uecker, the beloved Brewers broadcaster who died in January 2025, to say the drought is outta here. The tribute that got me was simple: fans picturing Uecker up there somewhere, finally getting to call this one.

My prediction is the parade turns into a three-day county fair, somebody gets a Cooper Pratt tattoo before the weekend is over, and a Brewers fan somewhere is still wearing his celebration goggles at Thanksgiving dinner.

Send it to the friend who’ll laugh the hardest, or post it for everyone.
