Cursed Images Are Scarier Than Any Haunted House I’ve Paid Forty Dollars For

Meatloaf baked into the shape of a grinning man's face and shirt on a sheet pan, one of the cursed images in this spooky season gallery.

I have a rule that I don’t look at my phone after midnight, and I have broken it every night since I made it. That’s how I end up staring at cursed images at 2am in the middle of spooky season, when a haunted house costs forty bucks and my phone does the same job for free. Nothing in here asked to be this upsetting, it just is. Keep scrolling, I already regret it for both of us.

Cursed images open with the Cat in the Hat and Elmo grinning between racks of clothes.

Nobody leave these two alone with a credit card.

Tweet reacting to a creepy book-accurate Diary of a Wimpy Kid family in rubber masks.
Hot dog wrapped in melted candy corn, then eaten on camera with total confidence.

Halloween called. It wants a lawyer.

Cursed images include this Britannica tweet declaring September 2026 the start of the late 2020s.
Close-up of aerated chocolate full of tiny holes on a leaf-patterned wooden tray.

Trypophobia, but make it dessert.

Supermarket sign changing from a colorful supermercado to a plain international supermarket.
Cursed images at the pool: men in a circle holding one floating man.
Burger frozen dessert cut in half, showing ice cream inside a sesame seed bun.
Tweet about Chanel barefeet sandals that leave the wearer's toes touching the ground.

Paying four figures to stub your toe on purpose.

Cursed images of sportswear: a soccer jersey printed with a giant photo of raw shrimp.
Giant nail clipper sculpture beside oversized clear toenail clippings on a black stand.
Man shows his eyes badly swollen shut while holding one eyelid open with a finger.
Cursed images meet marketing: MrBeast and Liquid Death announce a peanut butter cup sparkling water.
Long fingernails decorated with realistic fake human teeth, worn with silver rings.

Biting your nails, but backwards.

Man shows a fresh stitched incision along his hairline after plastic surgery in a clinic.
Cursed images of dinner: meatloaf baked into a grinning man's face on a sheet pan.

Dinner is ready, and it remembers what you did.

Medical photos of a tiny tick lodged on the white of a person's eye.
Cursed images of book characters frozen mid-hug, waiting for the reader to come back.
Winged earwig photographed mid-flight against a pale blue background, pincers raised.

Nobody told me they could fly. Now I can't unknow it.

Cursed images classic: a droopy-faced doll on a store shelf, then buckled into a car.
Did you know graphic with excavated skeleton bones explaining a grim decomposition fact.
Tweet claiming you need $325k today to match a $100k salary from the 90s.

Let that sink in, right next to my savings account.

The food ones hurt me personally, because I have eaten worse at a gas station and called it dinner. Somebody wrapped a hot dog in melted candy corn and ate it on camera with total confidence, and I respect that more than most of my life choices. It’s the purest thanks I hate it moment: disgusted, and also weirdly curious how it tastes.

Nobody warned me earwigs can fly, and now I sleep with the lights on like it’s 1994. The creepy images hit hardest when something ordinary turns on you: a thrift store doll, a meatloaf with a face, a smile with game controller buttons for teeth. Weird images like these belong in a haunted house, not my feed. I bought a doll like that once as a joke, and it’s still in my closet because I’m scared to move it.

Here’s the thing I won’t admit at parties: I love this stuff. Cursed pictures are proof that somebody, somewhere, had a weird idea and followed through with no adult supervision, which is the most human thing there is. We send them to friends so we don’t have to be upset alone.

Happy Halloween, and please, nobody bring a meatloaf to the party.

I went straight back to I Have Looked at a Lot of Cursed Images and Some of Them, Horribly, Look Delicious after this, which says a lot about my self-control. Why Are Creepy Facts Always About Halloween’s Favorite Animals? is waiting too if you want to stay up even later. Lights on, obviously.
