I have started and abandoned roughly nine hobbies this year, and the ADHD spiral always goes the same way: I see one beautiful thing, spend forty dollars on supplies and quit by Thursday. Amazing woodworking is the most dangerous trigger of all, because these people actually finished. They measured twice, cut once and did not cry in a hardware store parking lot. I respect them and resent them in equal measure, so scroll carefully.

Be our guest, but make it pine.

Finally, proof I peaked at five foot four.

Checkmate, but the king knocks the board off the table first.

A family photo where nobody blinked.

I can't even fold a paper airplane.

Bedtime, now with heavy machinery.

Recycling, but make it a whole building.

Planned a craft project. Accidentally built a planetarium.

The wood carving in here is unhinged in the best possible way. Somebody turned a stump into a monarch butterfly, somebody carved a mountain range into a shelf, and somebody made chess pieces that are all cats, which I would lose to on purpose. My one attempt at whittling ended with a pointy stick and a Band-Aid, and I still posted it as art.
Then there are the people who build DIY furniture like it’s a group project they got stuck carrying alone. A dresser dressed up as a guitar amp, a bulldozer bed, a whole barrel sauna in the yard: these backyard projects are the reason I have twelve tabs open about table saws. I will not be buying a table saw. Probably.
I think we love this stuff because it is the opposite of everything else we own. Nothing here came in a box with one missing screw and a cartoon man pointing at the instructions. Somebody spent weekends sanding until it was perfect, then let strangers like me feel things about it. It is patience you can hold, and I can barely hold a thought.
Measure twice, cut once, and please never let me near the sander.
