The Dallas Cowboys lost 24-16 at home on Thursday night to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that walked into AT&T Stadium at 0-4, without Baker Mayfield, starting an undrafted rookie quarterback named Jalon Daniels. The Cowboys Buccaneers memes started before the clock hit zero, and I know that because I was one of the idiots refreshing my phone instead of going to bed like a healthy adult.

Ari Meirov notes the 0-4 Bucs won with an undrafted rookie, above a still of Jerry Jones.

Bucky Irving ran for a career-high 165 yards, Daniels went 19 of 25, and Dallas spent the second half chasing. The Cowboys cut it to eight, drove again, and then with 1:16 left Dak Prescott’s pass bounced off Jake Ferguson’s hands and floated up to Alex Anzalone, sealing the Buccaneers’ first win of the season.

Nick Harris calls it the most inexcusable loss of the Brian Schottenheimer era so far.

Even the Beat Writers Sounded Tired

The mild stuff came first, from the people who are paid to stay calm. Bob Sturm called it maybe one of the worst quarters of Cowboys football he’s ever seen, and Ben Rogers described the game as the last 30 years of the franchise in one night, ending in a sledgehammer I won’t describe in detail here.

Ben Rogers calls the game a microcosm of thirty years of Dallas Cowboys football heartbreak.

Comedian KevOnStage went with sympathy, which somehow hurt worse than the jokes. Patrik Walker needed only two words to file his whole report.

KevOnStage says it is not even funny anymore and it has to be hard being a Cowboys fan.

Patrik Walker sums up the Cowboys Buccaneers memes mood in two words: unforgivable, unserious.

Can Someone Please Point the Camera Somewhere Else?

Then the broadcast found the owner, and it never really left. Jerry Jones was slamming the table in disgust in his suite, per Larry Brown Sports, and Prime kept cutting back to him like he was the halftime show. I have made that exact face at my bank app, so I’m not judging the man. I’m just watching him, like everyone else was.

Clarence Hill Jr. lists decades of Cowboys disappointment above a photo of a stunned Jerry Jones.

Cowboys Buccaneers memes compare the cameraman to Shaquille O'Neal grabbing a TV camera and pointing it.

The cameraman joke was the big one, and it’s fair. Every bad snap came with a cut to the suite, as if the network needed a live emotional scoreboard.

Why Do Cowboys Buccaneers Memes Keep Coming Back to Ferguson?

Because the ending was brutal. Ferguson got wrapped up as the ball arrived, and fans turned it into a practice clip of a receiver tipping a pass straight into the air for nobody. George Pickens had nine catches for 130 yards and a touchdown and still looked like a man who had seen enough.

Where Do Cowboys Fans Go From Here?

This is where it gets unhinged. Some fans pulled the paper bags back out, some announced they’re going casual, and one video of a man launching himself off a balcony was labeled every Cowboys fan in the world right now.

There was even a tunnel subplot. Someone told Prescott the loss was embarrassing on his way out, and the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris later reported it was a worker for a third-party company, not a team or stadium employee.

The cruelest jokes went after the defense, which gave up 24 to a team that hadn’t won a game. One fan figured eleven random people off Twitter could put up 28, and Craig Miller predicted defensive coordinator Christian Parker really will be a head coach next season, at Sunset High School.

Cowboys Buccaneers memes end with Craig Miller sending Christian Parker to coach Sunset High School.

So be honest with me: are you actually going casual, or will you be back on the couch next week yelling at Ferguson like the rest of us?
