Everybody has one song from a decade ago they can still perform on command, and none of us picked it. Ten years ago this month, a 45-second song about a pen and a pineapple made the Billboard charts, and I still know every word. These classic memes live in that same corner of the brain, the one we dig through every afternoon. Yesterday’s batch is worth a look too, but start here.

I laughed hardest at the burrito one, because I remember when 89 cents felt like real money, and I was right. Half of these old memes are older than my current phone, and they have aged better than it has. The viral tweets in here are how I answer every question under pressure, and I have stepped on the shower soap exactly like that, minus the graceful recovery. That is what the best memes do: they stop being jokes and turn into personality.

We go digging again tomorrow afternoon, same as always, with a fresh stack from the vault. If you need a bigger dose before then, Thursday’s meme dump for anyone who still owns a CD wallet is a good place to start, and the Garfield edition from Monday has aged like lasagna, which is to say perfectly. If something in here made you laugh, send it to the friend who was there for it the first time.
