I’ve had eleven jobs, and the only skill that transferred to every one of them was looking busy, which is why work memes feel like my real résumé. Here’s the job everybody secretly wants.

That cat has the exact energy of anyone handed money all day and told not to touch it. The rest of these are for the humans clocking in today.

Somebody's getting a very awkward email today.

Five more seconds of eye contact and it's over.

Barbara, if you're reading this, you've been immortalized.

The quitting job memes hit me hardest, because I’ve written at least four resignation letters I never sent. One was on a napkin. Gen Z is out here quitting on paper towels and by text with a little Xx at the end, and honestly that’s growth. My generation quit by answering emails later and later until everyone just understood.
Coworker memes are a different kind of therapy. Everybody has worked next to the loud chewer, the person in a tank top cranking the thermostat to 88, and the guy who says we need a holistic approach on every call and somehow gets promoted. I’ve been two of those three, and I’m not telling you which. The best monday memes don’t fix anything, they just remind you the whole building is struggling with you.
I think we share work memes because a job is the strangest group project of our lives. We didn’t pick these people, we see them more than our families, and somehow we end up loving a few of them. A meme is just a note passed over the cubicle wall that says me too, hang in there.
Somewhere a grandpa is vibe coding, and the rest of us are still looking for the mute button.
