A manager once took credit for my project in a meeting I wasn’t invited to, so worst boss stories hit me right in the resume. This first one is my favorite kind of boss.

Worst boss stories classic: CEO asks Quora why employees leave at 6, gets roasted.

Asking the internet how to squeeze more free hours out of good employees, then getting dunked on by a stranger, is this whole gallery in one picture. Everyone below found their limit, and honestly, good for them.

The funny boss texts are the ones that make me want to throw my phone into the sea. A manager asking if you were really that close to your late sister is not management, it is a villain origin story with a lanyard. My favorite move is the boss who eliminates a position and then texts the next morning asking where the inventory is. Babe, you fired them, and they are at brunch.

What I love is how fast people stopped being polite about it. Ten years ago these quitting job stories would have been a sad email and a cardboard box; now it is a thumbs-up emoji and two words before lunch. Somebody priced their Saturday shift like rush shipping, which is the most financially literate thing I have ever seen. I once said “no worries!” to a boss who cut my hours, and I still think about it in the shower.

Under the screenshots is something kind of beautiful: people deciding that their dog, their sister’s graduation and their one day off actually matter. A toxic workplace runs on everyone being too scared to leave, and these folks simply left. It is petty, it is satisfying, and it is the most self-respect I have seen all week.

The shift is uncovered. The phone is off. The two weeks start now.

Send it to the friend who’ll laugh the hardest, or post it for everyone.
