I have been married long enough to know that being right is a trap. You get the win, you get about four seconds of glory, and then you get a week of being the guy who had to be right. My wife does not argue with me, she just waits, and she waits like weather. Marriage memes understand this better than any book anybody handed us at the wedding, because they were written by people who lost the exact fight I lost last Tuesday. See if any of these were written about your house.

The thing nobody warns you about is that married couple arguments are almost never about the actual topic. They are about the last nine arguments, all of which are technically still open. Somebody looks it up, the phone gets turned around, the room goes quiet in a way that is not peace. I have watched a grown man celebrate a correct fact like he scored in overtime and then eat cereal for dinner.
My favorite thing about relationship memes is how honest men are willing to be about being scared. Not scared of her. Scared of the question. There is a specific walk a person does down a hallway toward someone who just said they were fine, and every husband on earth recognizes that walk instantly. I do it twice a week and I have never once come back with useful information.
Most funny marriage jokes come down to attention, which is the cheapest thing in the house and somehow the hardest to hand over. One person shares something important and gets a nod that means absolutely nothing. The other person folds a load of towels and expects a parade down the hallway. I have done both in the same afternoon, and I waited in that room for twenty minutes like a dog who buried something.
What makes this stuff land is that both people in the joke are telling the truth. She really did say it three times. He really did hear none of it. Neither one is the villain, they are just two operating systems installed in different decades and now sharing one kitchen. That is the whole engine, and it is why these travel so far.
The sending is the part I actually like. Nobody forwards one of these to a stranger. You send it to the exact person it is about, which is a strange little act of love, because it means the thing that annoys you is also the thing you find funny enough to keep around. That is basically the deal you sign. You pick somebody, you lose a few arguments a week, and you stay anyway.
The fact is checked. The point is lost. The couch is yours.
If this hit a little close to home, there is plenty more of it around here. We keep relationship meme collections for couples still in the polite phase, married men memes that read like sworn statements, and couples memes archives for anyone who needs proof that other houses run exactly this way. There are seasonal roundups too, for the holidays, when everybody is trapped indoors together. Bring a friend. Preferably one who agrees with you.
