There is a special Sunday afternoon feeling of lying on the couch, watching a show you have seen eleven times, and laughing at the same joke like it is brand new. That is what classic memes are to me: comfort reruns with better punchlines. Yesterday’s trip through the classics ran on a famous date, and this daily dig through the vault runs on pure couch. Grab a blanket and scroll.

Classic memes favorite: a stone angel statue facepalming at my life decisions.

She has filed for a transfer.

I first saw the four matching cats in a dorm room years ago, and I still say “don’t talk to me or my son” to my reflection on bad hair days. The deer on the dog bed is one of the best memes ever made, mostly because nobody in that house questioned it for a second. Old memes work exactly like a rerun: you know precisely when the laugh is coming, you mouth the line along with it, and you laugh anyway. Also, somebody please check on that guardian angel, because I have personally given her years of unpaid overtime.

Another round of vintage memes and viral tweets lands tomorrow afternoon, right about when Monday starts feeling personal and the leftovers run out. Until then, if you need something fresher, yesterday’s meme dump is still serving lunch for the weekend crowd, and Wednesday’s classic memes are refusing to be put away like Christmas lights. If one of these dragged up a memory, send it to whoever showed it to you first and find out if they remember it too.
