We’re about a month into the school year, which means my sister’s kitchen table is a crime scene of glue sticks and broken pencils again. I used to help my nephew with homework until he asked me a fourth grade math question and I had to go sit in the car for a while. That’s why funny homework answers make me so happy. These kids didn’t panic, they just trusted themselves and wrote whatever felt right.

Coach is going to have questions.

Tracey had it coming.

Grim, but accurate.

Somebody's dad has a record collection.

Honestly, same.

Honestly, he is in every photo.

Loophole located.

Planning ahead, I see.

What I love most is the confidence. A child was asked how much more Marcus can lift and went straight to a doping investigation, which is better journalism than half of what’s on TV. These funny test answers aren’t wrong so much as they’re answering the question the teacher should have asked. I’d give partial credit and a juice box.
Then there are the kids who are just brutally honest, and bless their hearts for it. Funny kids don’t sugarcoat a thing: grandpa is dead, you’ll be dead at 100, and the best part of school is leaving. I laughed, then I felt seen, because leaving is still my favorite part of most things, including family reunions.
I think we share these because every one of us was that kid once, staring at a worksheet at 8 p.m. and deciding the truth was optional but creativity was not. They get passed around faster than teacher memes in a break room because they remind us school was never about being right. It was about being brave enough to write something down.
The pencil is dull. The logic is flawless. The grade is pending.
If your family could use more little geniuses, Kids Keep Inventing Alternative Names for Things, and Honestly, Their Versions Win is a pure delight, and Hilarious Kids Mispronouncing Words In Ways Parents Will Never Correct will have you nodding along. Grab a snack and settle in.
Katie Rodriguez writes about memes, homework and other subjects that got a lot harder once somebody added letters to math.
