GTA 6 extended release memes have taken over the part of my brain normally reserved for remembering passwords because Rockstar finally showed us what this game actually looks like, and apparently 26 minutes was enough to create four separate internet emergencies. Lucia has a fan club. Jason has a weird backflip. The leakers are getting publicly buried. Netflix briefly became the technological equivalent of a restaurant host saying, “We weren’t expecting this many people.”
Rockstar’s official August 27 Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on a PlayStation 5 and gave players their longest proper look yet at Jason, Lucia and life in Leonida ahead of the November 19 release.
That sounds like useful information.
The internet mostly heard: “We have 26 new minutes to pause one frame at a time until everyone hates us.”
GTA 6 Extended Release Memes Have Chosen Lucia
One thing became apparent almost immediately: people really like Lucia.
She’s kicking people, handling weapons like she has somewhere else to be, burning evidence and generally behaving like the couple’s vacation planner if the vacation was several consecutive felonies.
PC Gamer noticed the same split, describing Lucia as the more immediately charismatic half of the duo while reactions to Jason ranged from understated antihero to a man who sounds like somebody woke him up during dental surgery.
Naturally, gaming discourse handled this nuance with tremendous maturity.
Some people adore Lucia. Some people are already furious that other people adore Lucia. The game is still months away and we’ve successfully completed several seasons of a culture war about two fictional Floridians.
Beautiful work, everybody.
Jason’s Backflip Is Already In Trouble
Then there’s the dive.
One blurry bit of footage showing a stiff-looking backflip into the water became an immediate forensic investigation. Is it unfinished? Is it a transition animation? Is it player-controlled? Does Jason simply enter swimming pools like a folding chair being thrown off a balcony?
This is my favorite category of GTA 6 extended release memes because people are reviewing individual animation frames from an unreleased game with the confidence of Olympic judges.
Naturally, AI comparisons also arrived, because apparently every imperfect digital movement in 2026 has to stand trial before the International Tribunal of “AI Could Do Better.”
Rockstar has spent years allowing GTA 6 to exist largely inside players’ imaginations. The Extended Look suddenly replaced speculation with actual footage, which means every tiny detail now has millions of amateur game developers explaining how they personally would have fixed it before lunch.
Cyberleek Had A Particularly Bad Thursday
The funniest subplot belongs to Cyberleek, whose unauthorized GTA 6 clips had dominated discussion before Rockstar showed the current game.
Then the official footage arrived looking dramatically more polished.
Hip-Hop Wired documented the resulting victory lap as social media immediately began roasting Cyberleek for risking serious consequences to circulate footage from what appeared to be a substantially older build.
That is an extraordinary risk-to-reward ratio.
Imagine potentially detonating your future because you desperately needed strangers to see a videogame character’s unfinished backflip four days early.
Rockstar didn’t even need to respond. It just released better footage and allowed the internet to handle collections.
The PlayStation 4 Has Been Asked To Leave The Conversation
The Extended Look also confirmed something visually important: GTA 6 looks extremely good running on base PS5 hardware.
Which naturally means everyone immediately pictured what would happen if you tried forcing it onto older hardware.
That melted PlayStation 4 feels less like a meme and more like a safety demonstration.

GTA 6 Apparently Tried To Kill Netflix Too
And finally, the reveal itself generated its own infrastructure joke.
Users reported Netflix errors as the Extended Look premiered, with Downdetector recording a spike in problems while fans tried to watch. Techweez documented the inevitable reaction posts about Netflix employees desperately attempting to keep the pipes attached to the building.
That might be the funniest preview of November yet.
If 26 minutes of GTA 6 footage can make streaming servers sweat, the actual launch day may require national emergency planning.
