Workplace Safety Fails

I am sweating just looking at these. Truly. My palms are wet. There is a reason we have rules, people! There is a reason we have ladders and harnesses and “Do Not Stand On The Top Rung” stickers! But apparently, for some people, safety regulations are just “suggestions” that get in the way of getting the job done fast.

This gallery is a collection of bad ideas. Terrible ideas. Ideas that defy physics and common sense. We have people balancing fridges on moving cars. We have guys hanging out of windows with no ropes. It is the visual definition of “Hold my beer and watch this.” Please, for the love of all that is holy, do not try any of this at home. Or at work. Or anywhere.

onstruction workers sitting in excavator bucket and on hanging ladder over river.
Man standing barefoot on high-rise building ledge cleaning window without safety gear.
Man standing on moving car trunk holding unsecured refrigerator on roof.
Man sitting in waiting room with arrow in chest next to boy holding bow.
Worker standing on top of flimsy safety sign to reach ceiling renovation.
Shirtless man grinding balcony railing while leaning over edge in underwear.
ood buffet line set up directly under poison and chemical hazard signs.
Four workers forming human ladder to climb utility pole in snow.
Painter balancing on top of open door edge to reach ceiling corner.
Man on ladder leaning against the specific tree branch he is cutting.

I need to go lie down after seeing those. It is a miracle that the human race has survived this long when we have people using excavators as elevators. It really shows you the lengths people will go to avoid renting the proper equipment. “Why pay for scaffolding when I can just stack three tables and a chair?” Because you will die, Dave! That is why!

Let these photos serve as a cautionary tale. If you ever find yourself thinking, “I can probably reach that if I just lean a little bit further out the window,” stop. Just stop. Call a professional. Your life is worth more than a clean window.
