Entitled couple seeks roommate

Imagine this: you’re scrolling through Facebook, and you stumble upon a post where a couple is offering to rent out a room… but wait, they don’t actually want you to live there. For the low, low price of $1,300+, they expect you to pay rent and disappear once a week. Naturally, the internet couldn’t let this slide, and the reactions poured in. From disbelief to full-blown outrage, these memes and responses show just how insane this ask was.

This post captures the absurdity of an entitled couple’s Facebook ad looking for a roommate who won’t actually live in their home. These memes and reactions poke fun at the sheer audacity of asking someone to pay over $1,300 in rent while not really staying in the house. The internet had plenty to say, from roasting the couple’s ridiculous request to crafting sarcastic memes about what it means to be a “roommate” in 2023. These hilarious reactions highlight just how out of touch some people can be.

Me and my boyfriend are looking to rent out our spare room in our Flat in Battersea It's a beautiful apartment, the room is a bright, double bedroom. The zone 1 location is super central: - just 2-minutes from Battersea Park - 4 mins from Battersea Park station - 6 mins from Queens Town Road Sation - 10 mins from Battersea Power Station (northern line) Our large apartment has lots of dining and relaxing space, and loads of built in storage and desk space in the room. The high ceiling two bedroom apartment has separate bathroom, kitchen, dining and living rooms, and then Alex & Madi's room. We're looking for a mature, clean and friendly person working full time, normal working hours. The room would normally rent for £1,300, although we are offering a reduced rent of £1,200+ bills, as we are hoping to find someone who has a partner or family nearby that they can spend the night with occasionally, and offer us the apartment for 3-4 separate nights a month to relax on our own. They would of course get the same
Please rent our spare room but don't actually live here. For the privilege of £1200 plus bills
Also I have lived in Battersea. It is not "zone 1 super close to central". It took me longer to get to work in central than when I lived in Walthamstow or Peckham loool
They need to advertise for a Mon-Fri let imo - for the business workers who commute to London for the week, not a regular tenancy - and certainly not at that price!
If I have a partner or family nearby to crash with...why am I paying you £1200 instead of them?

After checking out these memes and reactions, you’ve probably had a good laugh (or maybe a frustrated eye-roll) at the idea of renting a room where you’re not allowed to live. The entitled couple’s post sparked some of the funniest internet responses, reminding us all that social media loves a good takedown.
