Nobody questioned any of it because we were busy customizing our online profiles.

Adulting memes basically document the moment millennials realized being grown up was less “freedom” and more repeatedly asking why everything costs money.
Millennial memes are funniest when they lean into that contradiction. We’re nostalgic and exhausted, digitally fluent but emotionally attached to physical media, old enough to remember dial-up but young enough to still shout something dramatic before completing a basic household task. We contain multitudes, and at least one of them needs a nap.
