There’s nothing like a hot bowl of moose soup with the family

One of the most beautiful things about the internet is that every so often, a video comes along that gives you but a quick glimpse into the authentic life that the people out there are living.

Enter: MOOSE SOUP.

Since this video surfaced a few years ago, I am slightly embarrassed to admit how often it pops into my head. It’s bizarre – there’s that right off the bat. I also could not tell you the what the reason this person originally started recording was. There seems to be some kind of boat race going by – although there’s only one boat so I guess that’s still TBD. Also, is the race going by her house? Why is she there? These are the questions that plague me at night.

Also, it’s hard to tell but is there a second person in the boat? Because it seems to me that no one is really concerned that the boat is still kicking off into the distance after the one guy falls out of it. “Moose Soup” really is an excellent example of the old phrase, “it’s always the low quality videos.”

To get right down to it, I’ve never had moose soup. I don’t know if it’s made with moose, has moose in it, or is just regular soup served in a moose shaped bowl. Based on the limited information available from this lady, any of those scenarios seem possible.

Is this a regional thing? A local delicacy? A specialty dish perfected by generations of canal dwellers? The mysteries truly abound.

I have to admit though, the invitation is compelling. She seems pretty stoked about it.

And a nice warm bowl of moose soup, a couple of drinks, and some family hangout time after a boating seems like a pretty good time to me.
