The internet is a-buzz once again with a new trailer for the Super Mario Movie dropping this week. This movie seems to be the animal which rears its ugly head up every few months to spark some controversy.
The trailer features much more dialogue than the original teaser. So yep, you guessed it, people have some THOUGHTS about Chris Pratt as the titular super dude.
The reactions are rolling in and they are about as expected.
I honestly do get some of the reaction. I don’t think I’m alone in wishing that the studio had gone with the classic Charles Martinet to voice Mario. Yes, it would have been dope, but I get why all animated movies need the big names these days.
But I will saw that the internet does draw some weird lines in the sand from time to time. Pratt is hardly the only one here using his original natural voice for these rolls.
But there is probably just some general likability reasons behind that one.
Setting the Prattroversy aside, I actually think this movie is showing some strong potential. It looks fun, and I am not embarrassed to say it. From the initial reactions people seem stoked about the agency Princess Peach is finally getting in this one.
So I’ve got tons of time for that. Also, speaking of PEACH, our boy DK (The Donkey Kong as it were) rolls in real hard into this trailer looking thicker than ever.
And I DEFINITELY have time for that. But perhaps we don’t need to dive too far into that one just yet.
The Super Mario Movie drops in April, and whether or not you are WAHOOing about it, the debate around it are going to continue to be interesting.
