22 Funny Fortune Cookies That Are Weirdly Threatening

Funny fortune cookies

You open a fortune cookie expecting a vague platitude about “prosperity coming your way” or “lucky numbers: 4, 8, 15.” It’s supposed to be a nice little cap to your meal. But sometimes, the cookie wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Sometimes, the cookie looks at you and says, “You have terrible fashion sense and you will die alone.”

These are those cookies. They aren’t predicting the future; they are roasting the present. I don’t know who is writing these—maybe a disgruntled novelist working a side gig—but they are bringing a level of chaotic energy to the dinner table that I honestly respect. Why tell someone they will be rich when you can tell them their stupidity is their greatest enemy?

Honestly, I prefer these to the normal ones. A cookie that tells me to “fight for it” is way more motivating than one that says “happiness is a journey.” And the one about dying poorly dressed? That’s not a fortune; that’s a wake-up call. That’s a cookie telling you to go to the mall immediately.

It makes you wonder if the universe is trying to send a message, or if the factory just mixed up the “Fortunes” pile with the “Rejected Insults” pile. Either way, it makes dessert a lot more interesting.
