Dear Thunder Dungeoneers,

We’ve got an announcement that we are sure will come with some mixed feelings. The time has come for us to say goodbye to the Thunder App. Now, before you cue the waterworks (we feel it too), we promise there is plenty of good and exciting news in here to go along with the bad, so keep reading!

THE REASONING

We started the app with a specific ethos in mind – to not only provide you with all of the awesome content from our website, but to create a community where users and meme creators could actually get paid for their content.

And we did that! To date we have paid out over 70K dollars to all of our awesome users in The Dungeon User Sub, and we are incredibly proud of that.

But the winds of the internet have changed. With the advent of TikTok, FB, and Instagram monetization, the big guys have stolen our ideas (probably not literally) and allowed small creators more paths to get paid. Which is ultimately great for everyone! It has however made us shift our focus and development into other areas of the entertainment meme-scape (yes, that is totally a term).

As we diversify our business both on socials and on our website, we’ve had to make our focus on how to deliver the best content in the best way possible. Unfortunately, as tech advances, costs advance with it (just like everything else these days). And maintaining the Thunder App both on iOS and Android has unfortunately become something that doesn’t quite work anymore.

In order to give you the best possible Thunder Dungeon experience, we have to make sure we focus our efforts on doing so on the best possible platforms.

Which brings us to the good news.

THE GOOD NEWS – The Thunder Dungeon website isn’t going anywhere.

You’ll still be able to get all of the same content you’ve come to know and love here on the app over on our website www.thunderdungeon.com.

In fact, you’ll be able to get it even better.

We have been and will continue to be focusing on making our site experience better and better, building out the community features, and creating all the galleries and articles you crave. You’ll just need one less app on your phone now to access it.

We’ll also be able to expand our editor team out, which will mean even more and better content every single day.

You can of course still find us on all of our social channels. You know as well as we do though that just like the app, all the best stuff is on the website (because socials don’t allow anything funny anymore).

THE NEWSLETTER

Another way you’ll be able to access our daily content will be via our newsletter, which will push all of our posts directly to your email inbox. Which means you don’t even need to type in our URL to get everything you are getting from the app right now.

The newsletter will also be continuing the spirit of our monetization program. There will be regular cash prizes awarded to newsletter subscribers who interact with the posts they are viewing.

No more small payments.

Instead of making small payments like we do on the app now, we want to give out payments that will change your life. Every month we’ll be paying out large lump sums to our subscribers amounting to what we would be paying out over a full month in the Dungeon.

SO WHAT NOW?

Stay tuned for more updates, but we are currently planning to take the app down on December 01 (or a few days afterward as we wind it down). This will give everyone who has submitted content to head over to their profile and download any of their memes they wish to keep.

If the newsletter monetization interests you, make sure you let us know what your actual email is and we’ll get you signed up (we know some of the emails you made accounts on the app with might not be ones you check regularly, so that way you can make sure we have the right one).
